Basketball Coaching Staff
Coach Destiny McFarlane (Coach Destiny)
Coach Des is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she grew her love for basketball on the playgrounds of Southwest Philly. She played for the Philadelphia High School for Girls for four years and led her team to the PHIAA championship game in 2011. She graduated in 2015 from Cheyney University, the first and oldest Historically Black College and University in the country, where she played Division II Women's Basketball with the Cheyney Lady Wolves, under Coach Kyle Adams. She loves any opportunity to give back to young people and hopes to grow their love of the game by helping them find the joy in playing. While not everyone can be a scorer or drain step back threes, they all have the ability and opportunity to impact the outcome of the game. She believes that every player has to find their skill set and then hone it. She says that if she can get a rebound, box someone or block a shot, we would be highly satisfied. She found her lane and did her best to hone those skills. As a Coach, she hopes to develop players who take what they learn on the court and apply it to everyday life, teaching them that the basketball court is as important in the development of character as it is in the game.
Coach Gary Whyte (Coach Gee)
Coach Gee has been involved with basketball since 1970 as a player and coach. He played in high school and earned all-city honors. Starting a family prevented him from pursing a college career, but he spent some time playing in semi-pro leagues in Puerto Rico and Denver, CO. Coach Gee's coaching career began in the winter of 2014 being an assistant coach on his daughter's co-ed grade school team. He also had the opportunity to coach at Dunleavy Milbank in 2015, winning a GBA championship. Following his daughter's career, he became an assistant coach at Girl's Prep Bronx in 2017-2018, and took the team to the finals. His passion and love for the game of basketball has no limits and believes basketball and life skills go hand-in-hand.
